It’s mid-week of Quebec’s 2019 March break and you’re probably running out of ideas for what to do with your babies or young kids. We know, we’re right there with you! The weather is cold, you’re over winter and you just need something- anything– to do!

If you’ve already exhausted all your at-home options, like Netflix on repeat (no YouTube for fear of Momo videos, right?! UGH), and your crafting options are running out (Playdoh has dried out and you’ve glued all your macaroni noodles) then leave your house and try some of these ideas.

NDG, where we spend our time and teach our classes, is a great family friendly area. WIthin a few blocks you’ve got great options for kids:

  • Studio Jabberwocky is relatively new and hosts all sorts of activities and workshops for kids of different ages. There’s a fee to drop-in but you don’t care because they keep you busy and stimulated!
  • Melons et Clementines is THE place for the under 1 crowd and ideal for the non-walkers. They’ve got exersaucers, bouncy chairs and baby toys and the coffee and food can’t be beat. You’re also definitely going to meet your new BFF for your mat leave here. Thank us later.
  • Biscuits et Confetti is right across the street and you could hit up all 3 spots in one day if you’re willing to get real wild. Another drop-in cafe and play area for kids, they also host classes and workshops.
  • On Saturday March 9th at NDG park you’ll find a winter fest with free arts activties for kids among other things. It starts at 2pm!

We know you might not feel like exposing your pale, wintery skin to strangers but who cares!? Take the kiddies to the local pool. Lasalle has a great Aquadome, and many local pools in the West Island have splash pads and beach entrances to their kids areas so you can hang while the little ones splash. It’ll be like a vacation…except minus the pina coladas, the sun, the temperatures and the souvenirs. Like we said, we’re almost done. Hang in there.

If you’re still enjoying the winter weather, then get outside. There are so many great sledding hills around and if the weather agrees, you can get a good hour or two out of the kids and tire them out dragging sleds up the hill. Or, for the really brave ones like our own Jessica, sign those kids up for ski lessons at one of the many family friendly hills just outside of the city. You can do your own skiing while they spend the morning at ski school or just wait for them in the chalet and enjoy the peace and quiet while you sip a hot chocolate.

March break comes but once a year! Good luck and just think- spring officially starts in 2 weeks! We are almost there.
